Job Identity
Job Title: Personal Assistant
Location of Job: Fochabers
Term: Permanent, subject to a satisfactory three-month trial period
Working Hours: 2 x 12 Hour waking nights and 8 hours social support
Rate of Pay
£13.45
Job Purpose and Way of Working
To provide 2 x waking nights between the hours of 11pm and 7am to support with personal care and toileting throughout the night.
Social support required 1 x weekly on a Thursday between 9am and 5pm during this time it would be expected that the personal assistant can support with meals, medication and any personal care.
The Personal Assistant will be required to provide support including:
· providing flexible support at home, helping keep familiar routines and continue to have choice and control over her day-to-day life.
· supporting with activities of her choosing, either at home or in the community, rather than relying on a building-based service that she has not enjoyed.
· Social PA who can offer consistent reassurance and practical assistance in a way that is tailored to the individual needs.
· Social PA input that gives the husband time away from caring while ensuring supported person has reliable support that is appropriate to her needs.

Essential Requirements
The successful applicant must:
· Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
· Caring, compassionate and respectful approach
· Ability to provide dignified personal care while promoting independence
· Good communication and listening skills
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
· Comfortable supporting with personal care tasks including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support
· Ability to follow care routines from the employer/family
· Patient and understanding approach to supporting vulnerable individuals

Preferred Qualities and Experience
· Previous experience working as a Personal Assistant, Support Worker or Carer
· Experience supporting individuals with mobility difficulties
· Understanding of safeguarding and adult protection practices
· Moving and handling experience or training
· Knowledge of the local area
· Ability to support individuals to appointments, hobbies, and social activities
· Experience promoting independence and confidence building skills
· Flexible availability to cover holidays or sickness where required
· Comfortable working in a family home environment
Supervision and reporting relationships
Personal Assistants will be directed by and accountable to the employer. It is necessary to ask the employer what the support needs are, observing her directions and requests. It is also necessary to respect the family privacy and to always maintain confidentiality.
Training
Full training will be provided and paid for by the employer.
