The Employer
The Employer is the mother of the daughter that requires support.

Job Title: Part time, Personal Assistant
Location of Job: Rural Keith (Driving licence and Car essential due to location)
Term: Permanent, subject to a three month trial period
Working Hours: Part time – 2 hours term time per week, 4 hours during school holidays.
Assistants also required to provide cover for other team members due to holidays and sickness. Must be flexible. Working hours to be discussed and agreed with the employer.

- Job Purpose and Way of Working
The aim of the role is to provide the supported young person with opportunities to have new and different experiences out with the family home and school and to be an active member of her community. This young girl enjoys going on outings to the park, walking and ice skating. Her favourite activity is swimming she also enjoys drawing, building Lego kits, playing with playdough and doing puzzles. The ideal candidate would have experience working with young children who have Autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour. Good Patience, understanding and communication is essential to this post as the supported person can sometimes struggle to communicate her needs verbally.
We are looking for someone that would also be willing to participate on family days out to the wildlife park or landmark.
Duties will include :
- Support with taking supported person on social outings in the community.
- Support with meaningful activities
Any questions concerning these duties may be asked at the interview stage. Full training will be provided for all successful applicants.
· Supervision and reporting relationships
Personal Assistants will be directed by and accountable to the employer. It is necessary to ask the employer what the support needs are, observing her directions and requests. It is also necessary to respect the family privacy and to maintain confidentiality at all times.
· Skills, abilities and desirable personal qualities
Applicants must be reliable, trustworthy, punctual and must be able to work with this young person on a one to one basis, also be able to work as part of a team. Experience with Autism, ADHD and challenging Behaviour would be beneficial to this post. Essential to this post is Good communication, understanding and patience.
· Training
Mandatory training will be provided. This includes: Adult/Child support & protection. Any other training needs will be discussed and determined by the Employer and social worker.
· References and the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme
This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by the employer.
A reference from 2 employers, one of which should be current or recent is required. Employees will be required to register with the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme. It is the Personal Assistant’s legal responsibility to join the PVG scheme if they want to work or continue in a ‘regulated role’ The fee for the disclosure will be reimbursed to the personal assistant in their first month’s wage. As an organisation we are not the employer, but merely assist people to recruit staff when required.
