Job Identity

Job Title: Personal Assistant (Personal Care & Social Support)

Location of Job: Keith

Term: Permanent, subject to a satisfactory three-month trial period

Working Hours: 3.5 hours per week plus cover

Shift Pattern: Saturday and cover during the week

Rate of Pay


£16.88 per hour on weekends and £13.45 for during the week

Job Purpose and Way of Working


To support an elderly gentleman who lives in his own home in Keith with the day-to-day support. Independence and remaining at home are important to him. Due to his advancing age, reduced mobility, and recent health, he is increasingly reliant on family and carers to manage daily tasks.

Maintaining dignity, safety, and comfort are key aspects of his care.

The Personal Assistant will be required to provide support including:

· Assistance with showering/bathing. Skin care support. Support with dressing.

· Monitoring due to increased falls risk. Support to mobilise safely within the home.

· Emotional reassurance as increasing dependency may impact his confidence.

· Observation for any deterioration in physical health, particularly skin and mobility.

· Ensuring hydration and nutrition are supported as needed.







Person Specification


Essential Requirements

· Reliable, punctual and trustworthy

· Caring, compassionate and respectful approach

· Ability to provide dignified personal care while promoting independence

· Good communication and listening skills

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

· Comfortable supporting with personal care tasks including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support

· Ability to follow care routines from the employer/family

· Patient and understanding approach to supporting vulnerable individuals

· Ability to work independently and use initiative appropriately

· Willingness to support with mobility needs where required

· Right to work in the UK

Preferred Qualities and Experience

It would be necessary for applicants to:

· Previous experience working as a Personal Assistant, Support Worker or Carer

· Experience supporting individuals with mobility difficulties

· Understanding of safeguarding and adult protection practices

· Moving and handling experience or training

· Knowledge of the local area

· Experience promoting independence and confidence building skills

· Flexible availability to cover holidays or sickness where required

· Comfortable working in a family home environment

Supervision and reporting relationships

Personal Assistants will be directed by and accountable to the employer. It is necessary to ask the employer what the support needs are, observing her directions and requests. It is also necessary to respect the family privacy and to always maintain confidentiality.

Training

Full training will be provided and paid for by the employer. This will include adult support and protection.
