Job Title: Personal Assistant
Location of Job: Rothes
Term: Permanent, subject to a satisfactory three-month trial period
Working Hours: 17 Hours per week
2 x 5 hour days for social outings and 7 floating hours to be agreed by employer and employee
Rate of Pay
£13.45
Job Purpose and Way of Working
To support a lady to remain independent living at home. To support to any appointments, shopping, to the bank and assist with tasks around the house such as preparing vegetables, transfers, changing bed covers.
The Personal Assistant will be required to provide support including:
· To be able to carry out tasks and functions in her home safely and ensuring somebody is there to support her and her independence and choice can be promoted
· To maintain access to social opportunities and to build up more social connections with new people. To socialise with friends and continue to build up her social confidence
· To have support which promotes choice and participation within the community. To have access to different opportunities and activities.
· Be able to plan things to do and then carry out those plans
· To continue to be supported to maintain optimum health and wellbeing for physical health to allow her nutritional and hygiene needs to be met.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
The successful applicant must:
· Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
· Caring, compassionate and respectful approach
· Ability to provide dignified personal care while promoting independence
· Good communication and listening skills
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
· Comfortable supporting with personal care tasks including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support
· Ability to follow care routines from the employer/family
· Patient and understanding approach to supporting vulnerable individuals

Preferred Qualities and Experience
· Previous experience working as a Personal Assistant, Support Worker or Carer
· Experience supporting individuals with mobility difficulties
· Understanding of safeguarding and adult protection practices
· Moving and handling experience or training
· Knowledge of the local area
· Ability to support individuals to appointments, hobbies, and social activities
· Experience promoting independence and confidence building skills
· Flexible availability to cover holidays or sickness where required
· Comfortable working in a family home environment
Supervision and reporting relationships
Personal Assistants will be directed by and accountable to the employer. It is necessary to ask the employer what the support needs are, observing her directions and requests. It is also necessary to respect the family privacy and to always maintain confidentiality.
Training
Full training will be provided and paid for by the employer.
