The Improvement Service (IS) is a publicly funded company limited by guarantee, with a total annual budget in the region of £8 Million. Requirements

Location: West Lothian Council Civic Centre, Howden South Road, Livingston, West Lothian, EH54 6FF  

It is anticipated that the role will involve a blended model of office and home working. This flexible approach will be agreed between employee and line manager. 

Salary From: SCP23 - £28,269

Salary To: SCP26 - £30,561

Duration of Contract: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract (With potential to extend)

Hours: Standard working week is 36 hours Monday to Friday. Hours can be worked flexibly in agreement with the Line Manager.

Digital Public Services (DPS) provides a portfolio of digital products and services to many Scottish Public Sector organisations. These services support organisations and partners to deliver innovative, high quality and secure digital public services. Achieving efficiency savings, helping to provide sustainable frontline local services, and contributing to better customer experiences.

The Product Development Team is responsible for overseeing the development of brand-new products and services, as well as implementing new features, functionality, and improvement to existing services. The postholder will play a significant role in supporting the team to deliver high quality services, enhancements, and improvements to our customer base and its citizens.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly capable candidate to join our professional team as a Project Officer, supporting the co-ordination and delivery of several digital products and services within our Digital Public Services portfolio.

The Individual

The Project Officer reports to the Product and Project Manager within the Product Development Team. The Team is focussed on designing and delivering world-class, user centered public services, working closely with other colleagues and stakeholders. Your role will be to support the team and contribute to the successful delivery of new and improved products to our customers.

In terms of the broader responsibilities of the role, the post-holder will be working closely with, and be supported by the Product and Project Manager to:

Support preparation and testing of new features to existing DPS products.

  • Support preparation and testing of brand new DPS products.
  • Organising project documentation.
  • Contribute to the effective maintenance of project communications activities, including the use of K Hub groups and liaising with the IS Knowledge Management Team in relation to social media.

The postholder will also play a significant role in contributing to our Continuous Improvement Programme to analyse data, trends and identify opportunities to improve our customer service offering. This will include regularly reviewing feedback, existing processes, and procedures to identify, plan and implement improvements.
