Who are we?

Kibble is Scotland’s specialist provider of services for at risk children and young people. By providing a range of integrated services, we help build positive futures for children and young people aged 5 plus, with complex social, emotional and educational needs.

Job Purpose:

To undertake, individually or as part of a team, the preparation, simple cooking and serving of food, under the general direction of a Cook or Supervisor. Our kitchen has been accredited with the Healthy Living Award, therefore you will be responsible for helping to maintain this.

About our services

Kibble supports vulnerable and at-risk children and young people (aged 5-19yrs) across a range of campus and community-based services. Many of the young people we care for have experienced significant trauma in their lives and Kibble offers dedicated care and support to help them move forward and achieve the best outcomes possible. These services include residential, secure services (Safe Centre) and community support, as well as dedicated education and wellbeing services. Kibble is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are therefore expected to behave in such a way that supports this commitment.

Main Duties:

  • General kitchen and dining area duties, for example washing up, setting up and clearing away crockery and kitchen equipment.
  • Cleaning of the kitchen, its surrounds and equipment.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene and health and safety within the kitchen.
  • Preparation of food and beverages, for example, preparation of vegetables and snacks.
  • Cooking of simple food and meals
  • Working within various kitchens on and off campus
  • Transporting and serving of meals.
  • Other duties as required by the Catering Supervisor

Qualifications & Experience

  • Possession of a Food Handling Certificate is desirable.
  • Previous experience working in a large kitchen is desirable
  • Clean and tidy appearance
  • Ability to undertake some evening and weekend work
