Who are we?

Puddle Lane is an inspiring Early Learning and Childcare Centre for children aged 0-5 years. We are situated within Hillington Park on the edge of Glasgow near Braehead shopping Centre. Puddle Lane is part of Kibble, a Charitable Social Enterprise who prides itself on having over 160 years of experience working with children and young people. Puddle Lane is growing, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, fun loving and caring individual to grow with us.

Job Purpose:

We are looking to invest in someone who sees Early Learning and Child Care as their chosen career. We will support them throughout their learning journey as a Modern Apprentice to achieve their SVQ level 3 (SCQF 7) Social Services: Children and Young People.

The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to gain experience to start their career within the Early Learning and Childcare sector. As well as supporting you through your studies, you will also be part of a growing team of practitioners who create an amazing experience for our children using pedagogical approaches in play.

Your appointment will be for the duration of your Modern Apprenticeship

Main Duties:

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn, understand, and put into practice the national guidelines for Early Years in line with the Scottish Early Years Framework.
  • Apply your SVQ studies in practice every day by nurturing children’s health and wellbeing as they learn and develop.
  • Be part of a team who provide a holistic early childhood curriculum in line with the Curriculum for Excellence and person achievement in play.
  • Helping children’s social and emotional development through games, stories, music and art activities to make learning fun and to help grown their confidence in line with the curriculum for excellence.
  • Monitor and assess children’s progress and achievements.
  • Work with other supporting agencies to provide the best possible experience for the children.

Minimum Criteria

We are not necessarily looking for formal qualifications (although they do help) as we will support the right candidate to develop their skills and be the best they can be. If you have the following, then you might be a good fit for Puddle Lane.:

  • Communication skills. Our children love singing, dancing and just learning from the team.
  • Listening skills: You will learn a lot in a short time. You will need to be able to listen and learn fast.
  • You will be curious. The successful candidate is likely to be curious, always wanting to know and learn more. This is what makes you the best you can be, and the children will benefit the most from it.
  • You will have a vivid imagination. You will be confident that you can keep the children safe, smiling, and secure at all times. This means thinking outside the box to provide the best experience possible.
  • You will be a caring person. You are going to spend lots of time with children and you’re going to be so important in their early years’ development.
  • You are committed to completing the Modern Apprenticeship (and SVQ) as part of their terms of employment.

What do we offer?

Competitive salary, pension, holidays (up to 40 days per year) and employee benefits including cash4health, employee assistance programme, free parking, free meals, gym membership plus access to onsite gym and swimming pool.
