This is an exciting and pivotal time for Scotland’s first National Park, reaching our 20-year anniversary in 2022 and setting a new strategic direction for the years ahead, stepping up our commitments to nature, climate and people. Our aim is to create a better, more sustainable, healthier future for all. A key part in delivering this will be through engagement with visitors and residents of the National Park.

Our permanent seasonal roles mean that you would work during our busy seasonal months each year, starting around 1st April and finishing around 30th September, although this may vary slightly depending on business needs. Our working week is a maximum of 35 hours, with these roles operating on a rota system. Therefore, you could work a maximum of 20 shifts and minimum of 16 shifts per month, this will be discussed in more detail with successful candidates.

We have the following permanent seasonal role available:

Permanent Seasonal Skipper (April – September) (exact contracted hours to be agreed)

Band B1 £28,770 per annum pro rata,

Skippering a range of boats in line with the Park Authority Safety Management System including the emergency towing of vessels. This role involves working weekends and includes early, mid and late shifts.

Please note - Winter 2024/25 extension – this post will be extended from 1st October 2024 until 31st March 2025 to support the Boat Team through the winter months.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have a full UK driving licence and are confident to drive our National Park vehicles
  • Have excellent communication interpersonal skills
  • A positive, flexible and can-do attitude
  • Experience of visitor management or work in a customer focused role
  • Knowledge of and interest in the environment and countryside issues
  • For our skipper role you must have RYA Advanced Power Boat or Coastal Skipper qualification
  • Ideally, your skipper qualification will be commercially endorsed
