Melville Housing Association is looking for an organised, reliable and proactive Administrative Assistant to join our busy repairs and maintenance team in Dalkeith.

We provide affordable homes and services to communities across Midlothian and beyond. This is an opportunity to play an important role in supporting our day-to-day work, helping the organisation run smoothly and ensuring our colleagues and customers receive an efficient, professional service.

Working with colleagues across the organisation, you will provide a range of administrative support. This will include maintaining accurate records, managing correspondence, processing information, supporting meetings and helping with general office duties.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a good eye for detail and can manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and customer service.

About you

You will have previous experience in an administrative or office support role and be confident using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. You will be comfortable working with information and records, communicating professionally with colleagues and customers, and organising your workload effectively.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A methodical approach, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
  • A professional and helpful approach to dealing with enquiries and handling confidential information.

Experience of working in social housing or another customer-focused organisation would be an advantage, but we welcome applications from people with relevant administrative experience in other sectors.

Why work for Melville?

We believe in creating a supportive working environment where people can do their best work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. We operate a four-day working week without loss of pay, alongside a range of other employee benefits.

You’ll be joining an organisation that values its people and is committed to making a positive difference to the communities it serves.

How to apply

If you have the experience and skills we’re looking for, we’d be very keen to hear from you.
