The post:

A key member of the Finance, Corporate Governance and Legal Services Directorate’s leadership team, you will be responsible for the Corporate Governance arrangements underpinning a large and complex organisation integral to the NHS in Scotland. You will work closely with Board Members and EMT to ensure NSS has effective governance arrangements which provide assurance to the NSS Governance committees and external bodies that NSS meets its regulatory and governance requirements.

With a focus on service excellence, you will have the vision, leadership and capability to redesign the systems and processes which underpin these arrangements to improve organisational compliance and assurance whilst reducing the administrative burden which is detrimental to productivity.

Key roles and responsibilities also include:

• Oversight of audit activity including, but not limited, to Internal Audit, Service Audit, Information Commissioner’s Officer (ICO) Audits, Network and Information Security Directive (NiSD) Audits

• Whistleblowing and confidential contacts.

• Freedom of Information (FOI) and Records Management

• Secretarial services to the NSS Board and various NHS Scotland level including the NHSS Board Chairs, the NHSS Board Chief Executives and the Scottish Association of Medical Directors.

The Candidate:

Applications are invited from individuals with a supportive and visible leadership style who are very experienced managers already working at a senior level within a large, complex organisation and who have demonstrable expert specialist knowledge in corporate affairs, organisational governance and compliance acquired through degree level education and an additional, relevant post graduate qualification or relevant experience.

Location and Working Pattern:

Currently hybrid working. Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
