Prosper is an independent, not-for-profit membership organisation that has for over nine decades been representing the private, public and social economy sectors. Formerly known as the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI), Prosper works to influence and inspire key stakeholders to create sustainable economic growth for everyone in Scotland.

Prosper has always aimed to evolve in line with new challenges and themes which emerge in Scotland. Our constant across the years is that we always aim to inspire insightful conversations and to bring forward innovative and collaborative approaches to addressing challenges and unlocking opportunities to ensure Scotland achieves its full economic potential for the benefit of all. We are currently transforming as an organisation and undertaking a brand refresh, which retains all of our strengths of the past, and are excited about the future opportunities ahead of us.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the team for a dynamic, experienced, policy focused, and people minded individual to join as Policy Manager to support and develop the delivery of Prosper’s policy and public affairs plan for the coming years. If you are curious about how and why things are the way they are and keen to make a change for the better, we are keen to hear from you!

The Role

A key member of the team delivering policy work from reports to consultation responses and working directly to the Head of Policy. The Policy Manager supports Prosper’s research and policy work, embedding its values and reinforcing its reputation for thought leadership. You will communicate effectively and strategically to members, stakeholders and politicians at a regional, Scottish, UK and global level Prosper’s vital role in shaping a sustainable and prosperous Scotland. Recent work has spanned areas including net zero/natural capital, data/digital, rural challenges, industrial strategy, innovation and exporting.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll be a strategic thinker with experience of driving policy changes within a membership environment with a commercial focus. Time management and a key ability to provide judgement and expertise on policy issues is crucial. You will have managed complex stakeholder relationships and worked closely with various partners across Prosper’s areas of interest. Ultimately, you will have a passion for the themes associated with development and a sustainable growth mindset.

Join the team and play your part in creating a prosperous Scotland
