WHAT IS THE JOB FUNCTION?

As Operations Manager, you will have strong influencing, leadership and people management skills with a hands-on approach to contractual management. You will become a key member of the Management Team and will help further develop accessible services for local people and enhance the customer experience. You will have extensive experience in a training, regeneration, employability, economic or community development field.

Your primary responsibility as Operations Manager will be ensuring organisational effectiveness by providing leadership to Team Leaders, Lead Advisors and operational staff. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills together with the ability to work imaginatively and flexibly to deliver results for our clients and stakeholders. For this role it is essential that you have the ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve contract targets.

As part of the Management Team, you will also be jointly responsible for contributing towards the achievement of the company’s strategic and operational targets and overall organisational aims.

MAIN AIMS

  • As Operations Manager, you will manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of delivery of current programmes, achieving contract targets
  • Provide strong leadership
  • Manage and control financial budgets
  • Establish goals and objectives for team’s and implement accordingly to help support / improve job performance, experience, ability, and competence
  • Contribute to short and long term organisational planning and strategy as a member of the Management Team
  • Drive initiatives in the Management Team and organisationally that contribute to long term operational excellence
  • Develop and monitor performance standards
  • Implement monitor and review training and development plans
  • Conduct and record bi annual performance appriasals
  • Promote & maintain awareness and compliance of H&S in accordance with best practice and legal requirement.

DUTIES

· The Operations Manager will manage day to day activities of programmes, teams, and individuals to achieve contract targets

· Maintain and build upon partnership working

· Provide regular forecasts, figures and reports to the Deputy Chief Executive and wider Management Team, funders, and stakeholders

· Manage and control financial budgets to deliver a cost effective service whilst achieving contract targets

· Maintain and improve effectiveness and efficiency of contract delivery

· Contribute to and drive organisational planning, strategy, and initiatives as part of the Management Team

· Monitor and review performance, including conducting bi annual performance appraisals

· Identify individual training needs

· Monitor, review, and address under performance

· Address any staff discipline or grievance issues, maintaining appropriate records in accordance with company procedures.

· Always deliver and maintain a quality service in line with RTWS Customer Service Standards Policy and Procedures

· Carry out any other duties in line with organisational requirements.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

At least 3 years experience and proven track record in an operational/management role

Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience in a training, regeneration, employability, economic or community development field

Sound knowledge and experience of compliance requirements associated with European and other Government funded initiatives.

Contract management experience of local authority, SDS, DWP and/or grant funding

Knowledge and practical experience of staff training and development

Extensive knowledge of welfare to work, vocational training, ILM, and wage subsidy programmes

An appropriate degree/diploma or post graduate professional qualification.

Excellent computer skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft office packages

Experience of managing budgets and of financial monitoring.

Strong influencing, leadership and negotiating skills.

Excellent people manager, open to direction and commitment to get the job done

Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style

Experience of successful tendering

Target and performance driven to achieve KPI’s

Flexibility to cope with the varying demands of the role and achieve the desired results

Ability to problem solve and respond appropriately to a variety of situations

Driving licence and access to own transport
