Job Description
The Accountants are responsible for the provision of the core components of a comprehensive Accountancy Service to all areas of the Council: including the supervision and development of accountancy staff. Areas include Departmental Revenue and Capital expenditure, Common Good, Trust Funds, and other bodies connected to the Council. Specific areas of responsibility will be allocated by the Management Team and may be changed periodically. Ensuring that the study requirements of the designated college and examining body are met.

Capital Accounting, Loans Pool Accounting, and Income Assessments
Operational line management, supervision and development of Staff
The Individual
Work experience in a similar environment
4 SQA Standard Grades or equivalent (achieved in 1 diet to include Maths & English, at level 3 or above
2 SQA Highers or equivalent at level 3 or above
Strong written and oral communications skills
Self-confident and self-motivated
Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, Word and Outlook
Committed and able to work under own initiative
Aptitude for working with figures
Ability to work to deadlines
Ability to accurately record data
Flexible attitude to work allocation
Ability to work as part of a team
Desire and commitment for further education
Effective communication skills; oral and written
Willingness to accept direction/delegation
A flexible approach to new working practices and technology
Appreciation, acceptance of and commitment to the importance of confidentiality
Flexibility to meet the needs and demands of the service
Ability to work in a shared office and at home
