Bethesda Care Home & Hospice is seeking a reliable, practical, and caring Handyperson/Gardener to help maintain our buildings and beautiful outdoor spaces. This is an important role in creating a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment for our residents, patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance and repair work throughout the care home and hospice.
  • Perform routine safety checks and report any maintenance issues.
  • Maintain the gardens, lawns, flower beds, hedges, and outdoor areas to a high standard.
  • Ensure pathways, entrances, and outdoor spaces are clean, tidy, and safe.
  • Undertake painting, decorating, basic plumbing, carpentry, and minor electrical maintenance (where competent).
  • Assist with setting up rooms and moving furniture and equipment as required.
  • Liaise with external contractors and oversee their work when necessary.
  • Maintain maintenance records and ensure work is completed in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Support emergency maintenance needs as they arise.
  • Contribute to creating a pleasant, dignified environment for everyone using our services.


About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in general building maintenance, property care, gardening, or a similar role.
  • Is practical, organised, and able to work independently.
  • Has a good understanding of health and safety practices.
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards.
  • Is friendly, approachable, and respectful when working around residents, patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Can prioritise tasks and respond flexibly to changing needs.
  • Holds a full clean driving licence
