Blackwood are looking for a Housing Officer to join our Housing Services Team supporting operations across our East Region. Reporting to a Housing Team Leader, each of our Housing Teams are responsible for supporting our customers to live independently through high levels of engagement, support and a quality housing and customer service experience that reflects the needs of our individual customers.

Here’s where our Housing Officer role fits into the team and what we need the successful postholder to bring to Blackwood’s East Housing service:

An experienced Housing professional who is committed to working in a customer-centred service and able to develop strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external partners in maintaining these standards.

Knowledgeable and skilled in a cross-section of housing-related services including allocations and managing of empty properties. Our Housing Officers take the lead on tenancy and estate management, so, we need you to demonstrate having knowledge and experience of estate management functions and services including contract management, inspections as well as appropriate handling of anti-social behaviour and complaints.

Whilst a CIH qualification or degree in a relevant field is desirable, it’s not a deal breaker but you will need to be able to act as a role model for the team by providing high-quality advice to our tenants and operational teams, informed by legislation, performance standards and best practice.

As our East housing team cover from Fife, Stirling, Lothians down to the Scottish Borders covering 9 Local Authorities we need to continue having a high-performing team and you will work well with the Housing Team Leader and team members in contributing to the achievement of performance standards and targets. You will demonstrate this through an excellent track record of priority management including being responsive to varying workloads and deadlines and being confident to act as a decision-maker, able to reach practical, customer-centred solutions to operational challenges.

With an established tenant scrutiny panel, our new East Region Housing Officer will also support the deliverables of Blackwood’s Customer Engagement Plan by tackling isolation, promoting neighbourhood inclusion and embracing innovation through our award-winning digital system, CleverCogs™ and the ongoing rollout of our Blackwood House design.
