The 24/7 Responder Service

Blackwood’s new and growing 24/7 Responder Service offers a range of options for people who need support both during the day and at night using our award-winning CleverCogs technology, which has played a pivotal role in keeping our customers connected both before and during the Covid-19 outbreak. Each customer has their own digital tablet device to use the service which can include connecting with families, carers and hobbies online. Soon to operate 24/7 from our base in Edinburgh, the Responder Team will respond to calls activated by customers, all of whom live in their own homes with varied care and support needs. This can range from mental health and wellbeing issues, alcohol and substance misuse and long-term conditions such as epilepsy, COPD and multiple sclerosis.

The Support Worker (Digital Services) role

We are on the lookout for Support Workers to work within our Responder Service, coming onboard at a critical time as we look to expand the service from providing overnight support to 24/7. You will be at the frontline of responding to calls activated by customers through their TEC equipment which can include wearable technology, non-intrusive sensors and home activity monitoring devices, being able to implement safe and personalised solutions to calls handled through video conferencing technology. There could be calls that require a physical response where assistance with personal care and hygiene may be required in the customer’s home.

We need our team to be able to triage and de-escalate, supporting customers out of situations that may have occurred and to provide reassurance. As a result, you’ll be responsible, trusting and able to deal with a wide range of scenarios, taking a person-centred approach at all times. We also want to see a passion for and experience in using digital technology and confidence to promote a culture of digital inclusion and participation for our customers and their families.

We ask that all applicants read the Job Pack available on the careers page of our website. Blackwood are committed to diversity and inclusion and as an accredited Disability Confident Employer, we will interview all disabled candidates who meet the minimum requirements for the post.

Interviews are likely to take place online due to current social distancing guidelines; arrangements will be confirmed with shortlisted candidates.

Note to interested applicants

In accordance with the new immigration rules, employers must hold a licence of sponsorship to recruit all overseas candidates who do not have the right to work in the UK. It is with regret that this role does not meet the current suitability requirements set by the UKVI to enable sponsorship of migrant workers. Therefore, we cannot progress applications from candidates who require sponsorship to work in the UK.
