About me

I am a 10-year-old boy. I enjoy going to the park, swimming, baking, and going for drives in the car. I particularly love numbers and can do maths well beyond my age. I enjoy using a calculator. I like taking part in baking, especially weighing ingredients, getting involved and decorating cakes. I enjoy listening to the radio and music at home. I also enjoy activities that are typically aimed at younger children. I need someone who understands this and can support me in a kind, patient and gentle way.

Job Role

• I need support to stay safe when I am out and about, as I have no sense of danger.
• I need help at road crossings and in car parks.
• I would like support to enjoy the activities that make me happy
• I need support with opening and closing doors safely.
• I am able to communicate what I want, but I am minimally verbal. I may find it difficult to explain what is wrong when I am dysregulated.
• I may find it difficult to explain what is wrong when I am dysregulated.
• At times, I may bite my arms or hands. This does not break the skin and can happen for different reasons, not always because something negative has happened.

About you

• You should be patient, understanding, calm, and able to work well with children.
• You should understand that someone with autism may need extra time to process information.
• A quietly spoken and gentle approach would be best.
• You should be able to follow my lead.
• You should support my interests and help me take part in activities I enjoy.
• You should help keep me safe.
• Experience of autism would be helpful.
• The most important thing is being kind, reliable, and willing to get to know me as an individual.

Hours & Pay

• 3.25 hours per week.
• £13.45 per hour
• An additional 5 hours per week during school holiday periods.
• Holiday support includes spring, summer, October and Christmas holidays.
• 5.6 weeks holiday pro rata
• A suitable PVG is required
