Looking for a brand new job with satisfaction you'd struggle to find anywhere else? You're in luck as we're looking for someone like you to join our amazing #TeamSBCSKelso in Duns on a relief basis.
Our relief pool is growing, so we've now got relief job opportunities available in our services across the Borders area. The great thing about our relief contracts is they give you flexibility. You tell us when you're available and we would then try to give you shifts to fit.
The Role
As a member of our team you'll be providing 1-2-1 support to a gentleman who has a learning disability in his own home. Your main aim will be supporting his day to day personal needs, including healthy meal planning, cooking, housework, personal care, going to appointments and medication. We're also looking for you to be enthusiastic about participating and supporting him with his interests including music, sensory activities and trips into the countryside. In addition, part of your role will be to actively seek out new activities in the community for this gentleman to experience and enjoy.
About You
You don't need experience to start your career with us; we recruit on values and we'll give you all the training you'll need. We'll pay you for your training and will even fund your SVQ Level (SCQF level 6/7) qualification and yearly SSSC registration fees too!.
What we'll need from you:-
- Good communication skills
- A caring attitude and approach
- A positive approach to learning
- An understanding of the importance of following routines and guidelines
- The ability to cook
- Confidence in the use of computers
It would be great if you also have:-
- A full, clean driving license as this gentleman has his own mobility car and enjoys going out for drives, but this isn't a deal breaker for the right candidates.
Shift patterns
As we're dedicated to providing around the clock support tailored to the needs of each individual, shift patterns include early mornings, days and evenings. Sleepovers, weekends and public holidays would also form part of your rota on a rotational basis.
Sound interesting? What are you waiting for? Apply today, we can't wait to hear from you!
We are looking to fill these vacancies as soon as possible and reserve the right to close our advert early if we find suitable candidates before the closing date. Please apply early to avoid disappointment.
Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy.
If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.
