The Role and the individuals you will support

Here at Cornerstone, the support that we provide is centred around assisting individuals to identify and work towards their goals. We work with them to develop personal plans that reflect their choices, individual support needs and capabilities.

You'll support and assist two amazing brothers who have Autism in their own shared home with all aspects of their daily living. We're looking for you to be enthusiastic and creative when supporting with their hobbies which include watching their favourite TV shows and playing video games and pranks. The brothers are looking for someone who is willing to engage and learn about their hobbies, be respectful of their home and build positive relationships with them.

You'll become part of a fun and welcoming team supporting individuals to maintain their own home, increase and maintain their independence as well as supporting them with all aspects personal care and their social, health and wellbeing needs.

About you

Although it would be great if you do have experience in care, it's not essential as we recruit on values and transferrable skills. We'll pay you for your training and will even fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) qualification and yearly SSSC registration fees too!

What we'll need you to bring: -

  • Good, clear communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • A caring attitude
  • Respect for boundaries and people's homes
  • A positive approach to learning
  • An understanding of the importance of routines and following guidelines
  • Confidence in the use of computers

The people we support do have barriers to their communication, so it's essential that you bring an excellent grasp of the English language.

Shift Patterns

As we're dedicated to providing the best support that is tailored to the needs of each individual, these opportunities will involve working early mornings, days and evenings. Waking nights, weekends and public holidays would also form part of your rota on a rotational basis.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy. If you're successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.

Please note - If you have spent more than 12 months out with the UK (excluding France, Germany. Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while over the age of 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government/police authority as part of our pre-employment checks.
