Looking for a job where you can make a real difference every day? If you're looking for more than just a 9–5— this could be the opportunity for you!
We're looking for a positive, caring and motivated individual to join our friendly #TeamAlexandra as a Support Practitioner on a full-time (39 hours per week), permanent basis.
Our team and the people we support
Alexandra is a housing support service to four individuals with multiple and varying support needs.
The people we support are fun loving and enjoy being out and about. When not out on a day trip, they enjoy doing a spot of gardening, dancing to the sounds of Abba, Russ Abbot, Tina Turner (all the typical party tunes!) and some cooking or baking to name a few things.
We support individuals with attending work placements and social activities in the community as well as support at home with many aspects of daily living.
With such a varied group of people, every day is different!
Due to the people we support having their own mobility cars, it would be great if you had a full manual UK drivers licence with 1 years experience on the roads but this isn’t a deal breaker for the right candidate.
One of the individuals enjoys swimming so you would need to be happy to support them in the water.
About you
You don't need a perfect CV, you don't need years of experience - You just need the right attitude, a caring nature and a willingness to learn. We'll pay you for your training and give you all the practical skills you'll need.
To be a great Support Practitioner, you will:
- Be a naturally empathetic person with a warm, friendly personality
- Have an understanding of good team working and accountability
- Be able to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with different people
- Be an excellent communicator and problem-solver
- Be confident in using IT to enhance the support you provide
- Confident in assisting with behaviours that challenge in a safe, dignified manner and using Positive Behaviour Support strategies
- Be reliable and flexible to meet the needs of the people we support
Shift patterns
Our team provides tailored support 24/7 meaning shift patterns can vary, however a typical day could be 10am-10am the following day with a sleepover included, early shift or back shift. Weekend and public holidays will form part of your rota as well.
Sleepovers are not included in your contracted hours and you’ll receive an additional payment of £107.60 per sleepover.
