The Role

You will be joining a small, dedicated team supporting an autistic man with a mild learning disability maintain his independence at home in Govan. The person we support loves music, has a strong interest in the news and current affairs and has a great sense of humour. As a team, we provide a lot of emotional support and encouragement and help with all aspects of daily living, including administering medication, life admin and personal care. The person we support has some physical limitations and does not go out, which means you’ll need to be prepared to spend a lot of time within the service.

As a Team Member within one of our pioneering self-organised teams, you will take on additional responsibilities using the latest care planning technology, such as maintaining personal plans, rota planning, financial auditing, staff support and development, health and safety and the recruitment of new colleagues. This is a great opportunity for both personal and professional learning and development.

About You

We are looking for people with a real passion to build relationships and positively impact the lives of the people we support. Due to the nature of the role, it would be ideal if you have previous experience working in social care.

To be a great Team Member, you will be:

  • a naturally empathetic, patient person with a warm, friendly personality
  • able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills and be willing to initiate conversation
  • outgoing with a good sense of humour
  • confident, assertive and able to set clear boundaries
  • able to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with different people
  • adaptable and able to think on your feet and use your initiative
  • competent in the use of technology to enhance the support you provide, e.g. Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • reliable, flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of the person we support

Shift Patterns

Our team provides support twenty-four-hours a day, seven days a week. The shift pattern includes long day shifts, from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm, and waking nights, 8.00 pm to 8.00 am, and will include public holidays and weekends. Waking nights are paid at your normal hourly rate plus an agreed standard waking night payment of £2.50 per hour.

As you’ll be joining a self-organised team, it is expected that you’ll be willing and able to provide cover for annual leave and other absence within the team.

Do you have any questions? To find out more, please contact either John Curley or Caroline Duffy on 0141 883 8428.

If you’re successful in joining our team, you will be expected to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and must be willing to work towards a SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare as required for SSSC registration. We will need you to register with the SSSC within 6 months of starting your employment with us.
