Job Description:
Robert is a 66-year-old gent looking for Personal Assistants to help him live a full and active life.
He is a wheelchair user with limited speech, but a great sense of humour. He lives with his wife at home and enjoys listening to music and watching football and sport. Robert attends several groups throughout the week. You would support him to attend these groups utilising the family disability vehicle. The applicant should hold a valid and clean driving licence.
He and his family are based in the Kirriemuir area. His personal Assistant would help him to attend his social events and carry out some personal care tasks.
Robert can self transfer however the applicant must be confident in moving and handling. The successful applicant must be able to become a member of the PVG scheme.
There are several shifts available, and the family have a degree of flexibility in relation to shift times. Two full days of care will be required to assist Robert attend his groups.

Sundays 16:45 to 18:45
Monday 08:00 to 09:15

Thursday 08:00 to 17:00
Friday 08:00 to 09:15
Saturday 08:00 to 09:15

The SDS Service at Dundee Carers centre exists to support people to employ their own Personal Assistants and/or purchase services using direct payments. As an organisation we are not the employer, but assist people to look for staff if they need them. If you are employed, your contract will be with the person in receipt of the direct payment and not with Dundee Carers Centre or the SDS Service.
The Personal Assistant Role:
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming to promote independence and dignity
- Support clients with mobility and transfers, ensuring safety at all times
- Help with household tasks such as meal preparation, light cleaning, and laundry as required
- Follow personalised care plans to meet individual needs and preferences
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and any changes in client condition
- Communicate effectively with clients, family members, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
Skills
- Driving licence is desirable for supporting clients in various settings
- Experience working in a care home or home care environment is advantageous
- Ability to understand and follow detailed care plans tailored to each individual’s needs
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Compassionate nature with strong interpersonal skills
- Organised and reliable with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
