Inspire has been supporting adults with learning disabilities in Banchory for over 30 years and today operates two services in the town, enabling local adults with additional support needs to get the most out of life.

We currently have vacancies for Support Workers within both of our services, for up to 39 hours per week, where we enable eight people to live at home with appropriate levels of support.

One service is currently home to two gentlemen and three ladies who range in age from their mid-50’s to their late 60’s. They have a broad range of interests including shopping, cinema, football, theatre/concerts, motorsport, fairgrounds and bowling – basically, they love being out and about!

Our second service is home to one gentleman and two ladies, again ranging in age from their mid-50’s to early 60’s. Interests include walking, films, music, pampering, theatre and arts/crafts.

The gentlemen from both services love Aberdeen Football Club and like to attend games whenever possible - being a fellow fan would further both their and your own enjoyment of match days! One of the ladies likes nothing more than people watching, being outdoors and giggling with staff and the people she lives with!

Everyone enjoys going out for meals, a cuppa and having a good blether! No two days in Banchory are truly ever the same! The people currently supported by Inspire in Banchory also have a mixture of communication levels and physical capabilities, which adds further to the variety of the role.

Although our work can be challenging it is also immensely rewarding as Support Workers play a vital role in developing and maintaining the important life skills and encouraging the participation and integration required for the people we support to flourish and get the best out of life.

As a Support Worker you will participate in household tasks, including cleaning, cooking, ironing and washing while encouraging the people we support to join in. You will also accompany people on outings to the shops, or to attend social events, and help with the administration of medication and maintaining people’s dignity through the provision of quality personal care, depending on individual needs.

Could This Be The Job For You?

You don’t need to have any previous experience in social care to apply – we are more interested in your values and transferable skills. We will ensure you go through a comprehensive induction and training programme before your first shift and support you to achieve a funded SVQ 3 in Health & Social Care (SCQF level 7) qualification.

We also appreciate that now, perhaps more than ever before, different people need different things from their work pattern, so there is lots of flexibility with available shifts – evenings, weekends, public holidays, sleepovers etc.

There are plenty of other benefits that come with working for Inspire in Banchory as well – apart from getting to know and spending lots of time with the people we support at the services.

Permanent Inspire Support Workers receive up to £11 an hour – with a sleepover rate of £87.20; there is a competitive sick pay entitlement, generous life assurance policy, company pension contribution, the option to buy annual leave and a £200 Refer a Friend scheme.

If you have a caring nature, and are respectful, compassionate, nurturing and inclusive, then we would love you to join our team at Banchory and help us continue supporting those who call our services home to live fulfilled and happy lives.
