Inspire has been supporting adults with learning disabilities in Inverurie since the organisation was first established more than 30 years ago, and today we operate a range of services within the town.

We currently have vacancies for Support Workers, up to 35 hours per week, within our St James’s Court service - located not far from the town centre - where for the last seven years we have supported people to live independently in their own flats within the purpose-built building.

Could This Be The Job For You?

St James’s Court is currently home to 19 people with additional support needs - 12 gentlemen and seven ladies - who range in age from their early 20’s to their late 50’s. They have a broad range of interests including football, rugby, walking, cooking, pool, bowling, going out for lunch, tending to the extensive garden at the service, and attending discos and concerts.

No two days at St James’s Court are truly ever the same!

One day you might be helping someone with cooking a meal, cleaning their flat or budgeting their money and the next you could be accompanying them to an appointment or activity session or to get their weekly shopping. You may also be required to help with the administration of medication, assist with feeding at meal times or help to maintain people’s dignity through the provision of quality personal care, depending on individual needs.

The people currently supported by Inspire at St James’s Court also have a mixture of communication levels and physical capabilities, which adds further to the variety of the role.

Although our work can be challenging it is also immensely rewarding as Support Workers play a vital role in developing and maintaining the important life skills and encouraging the participation and integration required for the people we support to flourish and get the best out of life.

What’s In It For You?

You don’t need to have any previous experience in social care to apply – we are more interested in your values and transferable skills. We will ensure you go through a comprehensive induction and training programme before your first shift and support you to achieve a funded SVQ 3 in Health & Social Care (SCQF level 7) qualification. A dedicated Link Worker at St. James’s Court will also ensure your first few months in post are a positive and motivating experience.

There are plenty of other benefits that come with working for Inspire at St James’s Court as well – apart from getting to know and spending lots of time with the people we support at the service.

Permanent Inspire Support Workers receive up to £11 an hour – with a sleepover rate of £87.20; there is a competitive sick pay entitlement, generous life assurance policy, company pension contribution, the option to buy annual leave and a £200 Refer a Friend scheme.

What Are You Waiting For?

If you have a caring nature, and are respectful, compassionate, nurturing and inclusive, then we would love you to join our team at St James’s Court and help us continue supporting those who call the service home to live fulfilled and happy lives.
