Working as part of a small team, the main function of this role is to provide a timeous compassionate response to people across West Lothian who are experiencing distress and have been referred by a DBI Level 1 Practitioner.

Working within the framework of the National Distress Brief Intervention Programme you will make contact within 24 hours of receiving a referral and will provide compassionate problem-solving support and assist service users to manage their distress, identify triggers of distress, develop a distress management plan and link into appropriate community resources to help support ongoing emotional resilience. Support is usually provided for a period of around 14 days.

Liaising with a range of partners and services, the worker will need to be well informed and keep up to date with service developments and local initiatives in order to better support the service user they are engaged with. Travel across West Lothian will be required as part of this role.

With a focus on achieving and evidencing positive outcomes interventions will be delivered in a range of venues e.g. Health, Education and Community Venues. The worker will be at all times an ambassador for the LAMH and DBI Service, maintaining positive working partnerships and contributing to the development and marketing of the service and wider organisation.
