Job title: Senior HR & Training Administrator (Scotland)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week with some flexibility. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required

Salary: £28,714.15 per year, rising from year two

Main purpose of the role

This role provides effective HR support to all employees in the two L’Arche Communities located in Scotland (Edinburgh and Highland), in line with L’Arche’s identity, mission and values.

You will support the HR Manager to successfully undertake L’Arche Scotland’s HR administration and manage and support the Training and Development function within Edinburgh Community, along with other office administration duties as required.

As a Training Coordinator you will ensure that all employees and volunteers receive appropriate training for their role, and in compliance with national guidelines and Care Inspectorate standards. You will work alongside managers and the team at local and national levels to help people through their learning and development journey

A two-week induction will be undertaken in Inverness; accommodation and subsistence will be provided.


Key essential criteria

  • Attend to all aspects of recruitment, onboarding and communication with applicants, candidates, and newly appointed colleagues.
  • Liaise with HR colleagues to support overseas applicants with visas.
  • Provide generalist HR advice and support for first-line queries from managers, team members and external stakeholders, including members of the public, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Support payroll submission and liaise with the payroll department with regard to all issues and queries related to pay and benefits for all team members.
  • Support with the HR element of, registration for SSSC, Disclosure Scotland. Support Care Inspectorate returns and inspections.
  • Coordinate and record training and development requirements for Support and Care Workers in Edinburgh community.
  • Use the internal training system to ensure that people are set up and allocated the correct training;
  • Raise flags to appropriate people if training is not being completed, and ensure any refreshers are undertaken in a timely fashion;
  • Maintain databases as required and identify training that could be useful for particular people, such as apprenticeships or specific in-depth courses;
  • Plan external training, with an annual plan in place, but also responding quickly to new training needs and organising these quickly whilst working to budget;
  • Supporting and coaching people to complete training if required;
