Be part of something life-changing
Have you got the resilience, compassion and commitment to support young women to rebuild their lives?
Quarriers What If Female Service is looking for a dedicated Intensive Support Worker to join our team in Glasgow. This is more than a job - it’s an opportunity to walk alongside young women as they move forward from trauma and homelessness, building confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.
About the role
The What If Female Service supports young women aged 18–25 who have experienced homelessness, trauma and adversity. Many of the women we support have faced complex challenges, including abuse, neglect, mental health difficulties and disrupted life experiences.
As an Intensive Support Worker (Female only), you will provide consistent, relationship-based support, helping each young woman to feel safe, understood and empowered.
You will:
- Build trusting, meaningful relationships through a calm, trauma-informed approach
- Provide practical support with daily living – maintaining a tenancy, budgeting, cooking and household skills
- Offer emotional support, helping young women manage wellbeing and develop resilience
- Support engagement with health, social work, justice and community services
- Promote independence, confidence and positive life choices
This is a role where consistency, reliability and genuine care make a lasting difference.
Working Pattern
This is a full-time, permanent post working 39 hours per week. You’ll work flexibly as part of a rota across 5 over 7 days.
Our rota is structured around an 8-week rolling pattern, meaning you’ll know your shifts well in advance and can plan ahead. You’ll work a balanced mix of day and late shifts, with 4 out of 8 weekends off.
Shift times typically vary between 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm (day shifts) and 1.30pm–10pm or 1pm–9pm (late shifts), with the service staffed between 8am -10pm.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Calm, patient and able to build trust with people who may find relationships difficult
- Emotionally resilient, with the ability to work in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment
- A strong team player who can also work independently in the community
- Passionate about supporting young women to achieve their goals
- A recognised sector qualification is essential to be considered
You will ideally bring:
- Experience supporting people with complex needs and/or homelessness
- An understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Confidence working 1:1 in a community-based setting
- A full UK driving licence (preferred)
Why this role matters
At Quarriers, we believe in creating safe, nurturing environments where people feel valued and supported to thrive.
In this role, you won’t just provide support—you’ll help create stability, build confidence, and open up future opportunities for young women who deserve it.
Why join Quarriers?
- Be part of a values-led organisation making a real impact across Scotland
- Ongoing training and development opportunities
- Supportive team environment
- Opportunities to grow your career in social care
- Access to excellent staff benefits
