Salary: Starting Salary £29,387 (including on call payment)

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

(Evenings and weekends may be required)

Core hours: Mon – Fri 9am – 4pm.

Responsible to: Trustees of Renfrewshire Women’s Aid SCIO

Location: Office, Refuge & Scatter

As a collective member of Renfrewshire Women’s Aid SCIO (RWA), you will provide a holistic and flexible service through one to one and group work support to a high standard to women, children and young people with experience of domestic abuse, and required to participate in all aspects of the children’s service. In addition, you will undertake and provide managerial duties as required by Renfrewshire Women’s Aid collective.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, co-ordinate and provide a variety of support and activities for children and young people, on a one-to-one or group work basis. Also provide support to women and children in refuge accommodation, outreach service and office-based support.

To prepare, and contribute towards reports, when necessary, e.g. support letters for women, children’s panels, court reports.

To prepare reports to funders, to monitoring and evaluation bodies and quality assurers. Reports are sent every six months for monitoring evaluation to retain funding for this post.

Promote the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of women, children and young people and work from a feminist approach to understanding and providing tailored support for families who have experienced domestic abuse.

Understanding and keeping up to date with children’s legislation in Scotland. While maintaining a good level of professional development in regard to children’s legislation in Scotland.

Keep up to date information and resources available for children and young people using our service in conjunction with other workers

Maintain accurate and up to date records for all women, children and young people in accordance with Renfrewshire Women’s Aid policies and procedures.

Attend Collective business and workers meetings and take an active role in the same. To provide feedback on the service to ensure the collective are aware on ongoing matters.

Attend meetings and liaise with other partners/organisations to maintain the profile of RWA and to ensure the best interests of women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse are at the forefront.

As RWA operates a Collective Management Structure, all workers have a responsibility for employment, recruitment and management issues.

To ensure that all aspects of the service are covered including providing support to women in drop in or working within the refuge. Please note there is no lift access to refuge floors and this requires some physical work such as cleaning.

RWA is affiliated to Scottish Women’s Aid and as a Collective Member you are responsible for working with the wider Women’s Aid network.

You will have responsibility to undertake work to the highest possible standard, to work to RWA policies and practice including monitoring and evaluation of our service and meeting the Care Inspectorate’s National Care Standards as well as all relevant legislation.

To ensure that all Health and Safety requirements are met and policies complied with.

To contribute to the development and review of the groups’ policies and procedures and to ensure that these are implemented and adhered to. You will be expected to keep up to date with relevant legislation.

Provide advice centre cover on a rota basis to women experiencing Domestic Abuse. Provide telephone and one to one support to women accessing the advice centre.

Take personal responsibility for professional development in line with Renfrewshire Women’s Aid policies and procedures, participate in relevant training in order to increase knowledge and awareness of issues facing women, children and young people who have experience of domestic abuse.

Keep up to date information and resources available for children and young people using our service in conjunction with other workers.

Maintain accurate and up to date records for all women, children and young people in accordance with Renfrewshire Women’s Aid policies and procedures.

Positively promote the feminist analysis of Domestic Abuse and the work of Renfrewshire Women’s Aid locally and nationally.

Actively provide and receive regular support and supervision and engage in Renfrewshire Women’s Aid Performance Management Review Framework.

Participate in on-call service on a rota basis.

Carry out other appropriate duties as may be determined by Renfrewshire Women’s Aid.

There will be a probationary period during which the worker will be provided with ongoing support. At the end of this period the worker and the collective have the opportunity to decide whether to proceed to full collective membership.

Under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 only women are eligible to apply. All Renfrewshire Women's Aid workers must be prepared to undergo to an Enhanced Disclosure Check prior to commencing employment.
