Dumfries and Galloway Shared Lives

Shared Lives is a care and support service provided by the Richmond Fellowship

Scotland and in partnership with Dumfries and Galloway council which is for people

aged 16+ who want to live independently in their community, with the support of a

family and community network. It’s an alternative to supported living or residential

care.

Shared Lives care is based on shared interests, lifestyles, and sense of humour. It’s

a bit like fostering – for adults. It feels like an ordinary life for someone who needs

support – and doesn’t feel like a ‘job’ for the carer!

We are currently recruiting for Dumfries and Galloway and with the following options

available it could be the right job for you.

Day/hourly support: A Shared Lives carer will provide companionship and support

while using their own home as a base. Supporting the individual to do the things they

want to do such as going for walks, having a coffee, going swimming, or attending

clubs , helping them to build up life skills and much, much more. The possibilities

are endless.

Respite/Short Breaks: Where the individual can stay with a Shared Lives carer for a

break from their home life, which could be for an overnight, weekend or a couple of

weeks. If people are to be discharged from hospital but their home requires aids

and adaptations , they require intensive support for a limited period until such times

as they can return to their home then you could help by offering them a short term

break until they can return to their own home.

Full support: Where the individual receiving support lives with and shares the

Shared Lives carers family home full time.

All that we ask is that you have a spare bedroom and some care experience.

Working at home, you can earn between £368 -£500* a week with tax relief, training,

and ongoing support. And you get to see the amazing difference you can make in

someone’s life – it’s the ultimate work from home job! So, start your journey today by

getting in touch for more information, be amazing its time to share your life while

making a difference to someone else’s
