About the Role

SAMH Connect - In Reach is a new Fife-wide service working across NHS mental health rehabilitation and acute wards. We are looking for a Senior Recovery Coach who is excited by the opportunity to build and lead an innovative model that bridges the gap between hospital care and independent living.

This is not simply an established post to step into. You will help turn an ambitious proposal into a confident, high-quality service that supports people with mental health conditions through short or long-term hospital stays and back into community reintegration. You will lead visible and approachable ward-based practice, develop Recovery Coaches, strengthen the cross-sector Team Fife approach and help identify barriers early so that discharge planning is safer, smoother and more sustainable. Recovery, dignity, independence, community connection, and individual choice will be at the centre of your leadership.

Key parts of the role will include:

• Lead referrals and prioritisation with MDT partners, including people preparing for discharge or at risk of isolation, de-skilling and dependence on the ward environment.

• Provide direction, practice supervision, development and mentorship to Recovery Coaches.

• Coordinate strength-based assessment, recovery planning, risk screening, allocation, goal tracking, and regular reviews.

• Build effective Team Fife relationships with individuals, families, carers, NHS ward teams, local authorities, supported accommodation providers and community organisations.

• Oversee early identification of practical and social barriers such as housing, debt, benefits, family concerns, and community support needs.

• Lead recovery-focused one-to-one work, group activity, community access, discharge preparation and coordinated transitional support.

• Monitor quality, outcomes, records, activity and stakeholder feedback, taking action where improvement is needed.

• Respond to incidents, safeguarding and risk concerns in line with SAMH procedures and agreed partnership arrangements.

What we are looking for:

You will have relevant experience in mental health, social care, or a related field, together with strong communication, partnership-working, and decision-making skills. You will be able to balance positive risk-taking and recovery opportunities with safe practice, professional boundaries, and clear accountability.

A relevant SVQ Level 3 or SSSC-approved equivalent is desirable, with a commitment to achieve the qualification where required. Accredited supervision training and SSSC registration are also desirable, or you must be willing to achieve these within an agreed timescale.

The role requires you to be a car driver due to travel being throughout Fife across different hospitals as well as flexibility to respond to service delivery needs across clinical and community settings.
