An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our West of Scotland team. We are seeking to appoint Autism Practitioners to support a 38 year old man. The gentleman requires support to engage in activities that he enjoys. He will require support to navigate a large upcoming transition in his life over the coming months.

He is a polite, pleasant, kind, caring, and helpful individual who is an integral part of a small and loving family.

The person has an active social calendar and a personalised programme of support incorporating consistency and structure specific to his needs. Some activities that he enjoys are:

- Marvel – all things related to Marvel

- Spending time on computers

- Swimming and trips to the cinema

- Spending time with family

- Walking in his local community and further afield

- Attending a local art class.

At Scottish Autism we acknowledge the specialist support our staff provide to autistic people therefore those doing support work are known as Autism Practitioners. We provide outstanding training and are continuously improving to ensure all our Autism Practitioners are supported and have the skills to deliver a quality service.

Successful candidates will have a knowledge or be willing to learn about a Low Arousal Approach and creating stress free environments.

As an Autism Practitioner, experience of working within social care is desirable but not essential as we are seeking to appoint people who share our values and are willing to learn and develop into the role. Our values are Collaboration; Compassion; Change Makers; Contribution. We will support you to do this by offering an extensive autism specific training programme.

Autism Practitioners will work as a team to:

· Supporting the gentleman to feel safe, understood, relaxed, content and happy in all areas of his life,

· Implementing personalised support plans to ensure consistency for the person during a time of uncertainty and change,

· Building positive relationships with the gentleman and his family

· Work with stakeholders to ensure the supported individuals’ life goals and aspirations are at the centre of their support.

On a day-to-day basis, Autism Practitioners will enable the gentleman:

· To take part in their chosen activities (see some listed above),

· To empower him to make decisions that matter to him,

· As described above, the individual enjoys a busy social calendar and requires support to enable this.

As part of your role, you will be required to undertake shift work, including weekends, evenings and so flexibility towards working hours is key.

Scottish Autism offers you:
