Sense Scotland - Support Worker - 35 hour per week

Our Pollok Housing Support Service offers an engaging and dynamic work environment where no two days are the same. We’re a dedicated, close-knit team committed to providing exceptional, person-centred support to 3 ladies who are primarily deafblind and have complex and diverse support needs. They may not communicate verbally, so we place a strong emphasis on understanding and connecting in ways that are meaningful to them.

Who do we support?

We support three ladies who live independently in their own homes in the Pollok area of Glasgow. These ladies live full and active lives, and we’re looking for someone who can match their energy and support their routines with enthusiasm and respect. From swimming and long walks to enjoying meals out and exploring new places. They enjoy structure, companionship, and a bit of adventure, and they need someone who can help maintain their homes, support their health, and most importantly, connect with them through great communication and a genuine interest in who they are.

You’ll work on a 1:1 basis, supporting each lady with their day-to-day living. Your role is all about encouraging and empowering them to live happy, meaningful lives and achieve their personal outcomes—whether that’s at home or out in the wider community. Building strong, trusting relationships will be at the heart of what you do, creating a solid foundation to support with practical tasks such as:

  • Support within their own homes with personal care, housework, administering medication, meal preparation, support with finances companionship etc
  • Liaise with families and other professionals to provide the best quality care
  • Promote independence and individuality according to their Support Plan
  • Record daily tasks and maintain accurate records
  • Work as part of a team, effectively communicating with the staff team, families, and people supported

What’s the shift pattern?

We’re currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team offering 35 hours per week with a mix of shift types designed to support the unique needs and routines of the people we support. Shifts may include:

  • Day shifts: 07:30 - 14:30
  • Late shift: 14:30 – 21:30
  • Mid shift: 09:00 – 17:00 or 12:00 – 20:00 - dependent on the activity the ladies have planned e.g.: it could be a concert they are attending.
  • Flexibility is key, and we’ll work with you to ensure a fair and balanced rota.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and use your own initiative
  • Strong work ethic and organised to support routines
  • Able to prioritise and manage workloads
  • Eager to develop
  • A genuine passion for caring for others
