Talbot Association is looking for a compassionate, confident and values-driven Team Leaders to help lead our frontline services.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people who may be experiencing homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health challenges or social isolation. We are looking for someone who can support staff, strengthen practice and help create a service where people feel safe, respected and able to move forward.

As Team Leader, you will support the Service Leader with the day-to-day running and operational management of the service. You will provide leadership, guidance and supervision to staff, while helping to ensure that care and support is delivered to a high standard and in line with legislation, regulation and Talbot Association policies.

You will play a key role in promoting person-centred practice, safeguarding, continuous improvement and positive outcomes for the people we support. The post holder will also be expected to participate in the organisation’s on-call rota, where required, to support the safe and effective running of services.


What you will be doing

You will:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to staff
  • Support the Service Leader with the operational management of the service
  • Deputise for the Service Leader when required
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and values-led team culture
  • Support staff through supervision, appraisal and development
  • Contribute to staff rotas, workforce planning and deployment of resources
  • Support the recruitment and induction of new staff
  • Ensure care and support is person-centred, respectful and outcome-focused
  • Promote dignity, compassion, inclusion, wellbeing and responsive support
  • Monitor and review care plans, risk assessments and case records
  • Support safeguarding, adult protection and safe working practices
  • Respond appropriately to incidents, accidents and concerns
  • Support quality assurance, audits and service improvement plans
  • Help prepare for inspections and contribute to improvement actions
  • Maintain effective communication with staff, families, carers and partner agencies
  • Chair or contribute to meetings as required
  • Participate in the organisation’s on-call rota, where required, and respond appropriately to urgent service matters

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who brings both professional skill and genuine care.

You will have experience in social care and some experience of supervising, mentoring or leading others. You will understand the importance of safe, compassionate and person-centred support, and you will be committed to helping people achieve better outcomes.

You will be someone who can remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions, communicate clearly and support staff to do their best work. You will also be confident in promoting high standards, challenging poor practice where necessary, and helping to create a positive and supportive working environment.

Essential requirements

You should have:

  • SVQ Level 3 in Social Services and Healthcare, or equivalent qualification recognised by SSSC
  • Experience working in social care, supported accommodation, residential care or a similar setting
  • Experience supervising, mentoring or leading staff
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and Adult Support and Protection procedures
  • Understanding of person-centred planning and outcome-focused support
  • Understanding of the Health and Social Care Standards in Scotland
  • Ability to meet SSSC registration requirements
  • PVG Scheme membership, where applicable
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Willingness to work flexibly to meet service needs
  • Willingness to participate in the organisation’s on-call rota, where required

Desirable

It would be helpful if you also have:

  • SVQ Level 4 in Social Services and Healthcare, or willingness to work towards this
  • Leadership or management qualification, or willingness to work towards one
  • Experience of Care Inspectorate inspections or quality improvement work
  • Experience managing rotas or supporting service planning
  • Experience contributing to budget oversight or resource management
