Healthcare Assistant Job Description:

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Care Workers who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of others. In this crucial role, they will play a key part in supporting the personal needs and well-being of elderly and infirm individuals, referred to as Service Users, within in the comfort of their own homes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised care and support to Service Users in accordance with their individualised Care Plans.
  • Foster positive and empathetic relationships with Service Users, recognising and addressing communication challenges with professionalism and patience.
  • Execute essential tasks related to personal care, assisting with day-to-day living activities, and maintaining a hygienic and organised living environment.
  • Collaborate with professionals from diverse organisations, ensuring seamless communication and coordination of care.
  • Safely operate and handle provided equipment, adhering to proper work practices and protocols.
  • Handle and use Service Users' property and equipment responsibly and with care.

Additional Responsibilities for Home Health Carers:

In addition to the general responsibilities, Home Health Carers play a vital role in extending our commitment to personalised care directly to the homes of our Service Users. As a Home Health Carer, you will:

  • Conduct regular home visits to assess living conditions and address any environmental factors that may impact the well-being of the Service User.
  • Assist with medication management, ensuring timely prompting and or administration and adherence to prescribed medication schedules.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, providing crucial health-related information to the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement specialised care plans tailored to the unique needs of each Service User.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support, recognising the importance of social interaction for overall mental and emotional well-being.
  • Coordinate with family members and caregivers, keeping them informed about the Service User's progress and any changes in care requirements.
  • Provide guidance and education to family members on best supporting the Service User's health and well-being between professional visits.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect and engage with individuals facing various communication challenges.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for providing high-quality care.
  • Ability to perform essential tasks related to personal care and maintain a clean-living environment.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with a diverse team of professionals.
  • Adherence to the Care Plan outlined for each Service User.
  • Responsible and safe handling of provided equipment, ensuring the well-being of both the caregiver and the Service User.
  • Certification or relevant training in home health care services for Home Health Carers.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, health monitoring, and medication management for Home Health Carers.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions based on the specific needs of the Service User for Home Health Carers.
  • Compassion and empathy in providing emotional support to individuals and their families for Home Health Carers.
  • Familiarity with assistive devices and adaptive technologies commonly used in home care settings for Home Health Carers.

Guaranteed Weekly Hours & Pay: Successful candidates will work a 39-hour per week contract with the option for overtime, providing ample opportunities for professional growth and development. The rate of pay starts at £12.00 per hour (Mon-Fri) to £13.50 per hour (Weekends).

Experience Required:

  • Adapt care strategies based on the evolving needs of the Service User, ensuring a flexible and responsive approach to their changing circumstances.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of each home visit, documenting observations, care provided, and any noteworthy changes in the Service User's condition.
  • Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt communication styles based on the individual needs of Service Users.
