About the Role

As a Catering Assistant, you will help deliver a friendly, safe and efficient meals service for customers.

You will support basic food preparation, serve customers in the dining room, help keep the kitchen and dining room clean, and contribute to a positive mealtime experience where customers feel welcomed, respected and supported.

A Typical Day Might Include

A typical day might include supporting basic food preparation, setting up the dining room, serving customers, clearing tables, washing dishes, keeping the kitchen and dining room clean, receiving deliveries safely and helping customers feel comfortable at mealtimes.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working in a food service environment and takes pride in helping customers have a positive mealtime experience.

You’ll be enthusiastic, flexible and able to work well as part of a team. You’ll understand, or be willing to learn, food hygiene, health and safety and the needs of older people.

You don’t need lots of customer service experience, but you’ll be happy to speak with customers in a friendly and respectful way while helping with mealtimes.

Basic digital tasks, such as using emails or online forms, may be part of the role, and we’ll support you with any role-specific systems you need to use.

Supporting Positive Mealtimes

Mealtimes are an important part of the day. In this role, you will help create a friendly, welcoming environment where customers can enjoy good food, good service and positive social connection.

Vacancy Summary

This role is based at Longfield Crescent, Duns, Scottish Borders TD11 3FG.

Hours: 21 hours, over 3 days per week, on a 2-week rolling rota

Salary: £13.45 per hour

Contract type: Permanent / Part time
