Do you want to make a positive difference to people’s lives? Come and join Wheatley Care as a Health and Wellbeing Assistant!
We are a values‑led social care organisation focused on delivering support that genuinely improves people’s lives. As a not‑for‑profit provider, with over 40 years’ experience in the social care arena, we reinvest our resources where they matter most: the people and communities we serve. Our work is grounded in dignity, respect, and the belief that everyone deserves the chance to live well.
We are recognised for delivering reliable, person‑led support across our communities. Our teams are trusted to provide safe, compassionate care that stands up to scrutiny. We take pride in being a steady, dependable partner within the health and social care landscape across Scotland.
We are entering a significant phase of development as we progress on the transition to becoming an independent organisation and strengthening our care service teams to match our ambition. Our focus is on long‑term sustainability, strong governance, and services that remain fit for the future. We combine the ethos of the third sector with the discipline of a modern, well‑run organisation.
Our culture is grounded in respect, accountability, and a shared commitment to doing the right thing. We support our staff to grow, contribute, and lead with confidence. We value professionalism, kindness, and the ability to work with purpose.
About the role
Our Accommodation and Alcohol Support Service focuses on supporting individuals affected by alcohol use to achieve stability, improve wellbeing, and sustain independent living. The service provides a safe and supportive environment where people can rebuild their lives at a pace that suits their individual needs.
Our approach is person‑centred, trauma‑informed, and recovery‑focused. We work alongside individuals to reduce harm, promote healthier lifestyles, and develop the confidence and skills needed to maintain stable accommodation and improve overall quality of life.
You will support individuals who may have experienced addiction, homelessness, or complex life circumstances. The role involves working in partnership with each person to identify goals, build routines, and strengthen independence while ensuring they feel respected, valued, and supported.
Support is flexible and tailored, ranging from practical assistance to emotional support and encouragement. The emphasis is on building trusting relationships and empowering individuals to take positive steps forward in their recovery journey.
Key areas of support include:
- Supporting individuals to sustain and manage their accommodation
- Promoting recovery, harm reduction, and healthier lifestyle choices
- Encouraging independence and the development of daily living skills
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and resilience
- Building positive, professional relationships based on trust
- Encouraging engagement with services, activities, and the wider community
We value a compassionate, non‑judgemental approach, with a strong emphasis on dignity, inclusion, and empowering people to achieve their own goals.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is caring, reliable, and adaptable, with a genuine commitment to supporting individuals affected by alcohol use and complex needs. You will be confident working in a person‑centred environment, able to build positive relationships, and respond flexibly to changing circumstances.
Previous experience in a care or support role is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. An understanding of addiction, recovery approaches, and trauma‑informed practice would be beneficial.
Above all, you will share our values and be motivated to support individuals to live safer, more independent, and fulfilling lives.

As part of Wheatley Care, we offer a sector‑leading benefits package.
The successful candidate will receive:
