The Edinburgh Housing Support Team is an outreach service that provides temporary, fully furnished accommodation and housing support to individuals experiencing homelessness across Edinburgh.

Working in partnership with Wheatley Homes East and The City of Edinburgh Council, we support people to maintain their accommodation, develop independent living skills and build the confidence needed to move towards permanent housing. Through our block funded service, we provide regular, tailored support that enables individuals to identify their goals, build on their strengths and overcome barriers to independence.

Many of the people we support have experienced homelessness and may also face challenges relating to mental health, substance use, social isolation, poverty or trauma. Using a person-centred approach, we work alongside individuals to improve wellbeing, increase resilience and achieve positive, lasting outcomes.

No two days are ever the same. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping people sustain their current accommodation while developing the skills, confidence and stability needed to successfully secure and maintain permanent housing.

Experience working within housing support, homelessness services, supported accommodation, outreach services or social care is highly desirable. An understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness and the importance of tenancy sustainment and housing progression would be beneficial.

However, we recognise that valuable skills can come from a variety of backgrounds. What matters most is your values, attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred support.

The Edinburgh Housing Support Team is a registered service operating Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous due to the nature of the role, although this is not essential.
