Agnes is an assistant events and marketing officer at Glasgow City Council. One of her key roles is organising the annual Lord Provost's Burns Supper, one of the biggest events of its kind in the world attended by more than 850 of Glasgow's 'great and good' every year. "The job involves organising everything from the venue to the flowers, marketing of the event, design and print of the invitations, tickets and programmes, the sound and vision and dressing the hall," Agnes explains. She also takes the lead in organising and marketing a range of events including the Clean Glasgow Awards, Schools Calendar competition, Curry Capital of Britain and Election campaigns. "Seeing everything coming together is what I enjoy most," Agnes says. "There are usually quite a lot of balls to juggle, but I thrive on that." Before joining the council, Agnes spent eight years in the bacteriology department of Glasgow's Western Infirmary as an administrative and clerical assistant. She has seven O Grades, Higher maths, modules one and two in typing from the RSA (which awards the most widely recognised secretarial qualifications) and a SCOTVEC national certificate in computing and word processing.
