Vivien was employed by Aberdeenshire Council as a community Occupational Therapist in July 2009 after applying through myjobscotland.

Her job involves helping people of all ages cope with the effects of illness or disability. This can include giving advice, arranging services or providing equipment and adaptations to help with daily living tasks.

She is based at Skene Healthcare Centre in Westhill, Aberdeenshire, where she works alongside other medical and social work staff who provide support for residents throughout the area.

"I'm really enjoying my job with Aberdeenshire Council and receive a lot of support from a fantastic team of medical and social work professionals as well as the management team," Vivien says.

After completing her Occupational Therapy training in 1984, Vivien worked at Birmingham General Hospital for five years before moving to Grampian Regional Council (now Aberdeen City Council), where she worked for 20 years.

The last time she applied for a job, it involved filling out forms and getting them in the first post. So she was pleasantly surprised by her first online application with myjobscotland.

"The portal was very easy to use as the job description was clearly laid out and you could print it out to study it further," she says. "You can also save your application and complete it over a few days, which takes the pressure off."
