EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER (PRISONS)
Early Years Scotland is passionate about Scotland’s youngest children having the best possible start in life and we are searching for a very special person to help make that happen. We have an exciting opportunity available for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within prisons to facilitate and support young children affected by parental imprisonment. The support is offered through shared play and learning sessions with male and female prisoners, their partners / families and young children.
You will plan, deliver and evaluate play and learning experiences to involve both children and parents, as well as delivering the Early Years Scotland Children Affected by Imprisonment Programme. This programme combines theoretical and experiential learning, all focused around play and learning with young children and highlights the importance of play for young children’s learning and development. You will encourage positive relationships between parents and children through shared play and learning experiences. You will also work closely with the Scottish Prison Service and a wide range of partners to review learning and contribute to the development of future plans.
We welcome applications that demonstrate:
· sound understanding and knowledge of how young children develop and learn
· an ability to build effective relationships with families and have experience of working with parents and families experiencing difficult circumstances
· experience of working with a range of colleagues from other agencies
· excellent communication and organisational skills
· an ability to work on own initiative and also as an effective member of a team
