Nursery Practitioner

Obans First Steps Day Nursery is a well-established, forward-thinking nursery located in Oban, Scotland. We pride ourselves on creating a warm, inclusive environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn through play.

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality care and education for children aged 0-5
• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the Curriculum for Excellence and Realising the Ambition: Being Me
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
• Observe, assess, and document children’s development using the Famly app.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating learning environment

Requirements:

• SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent
• Registration with SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) (or willing to register upon appointment)
• A clear PVG Scheme Record (Protection of Vulnerable Groups)
• A genuine passion for working with children and contributing to their development
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

• First Aid training
• Experience working in a nursery setting
• Knowledge of GIRFEC principles
