Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

The Aberdeen Ambassador plays a crucial role in maintaining a prominent presence in Aberdeen's City Centre. The individual holding this position will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and maintain a professional, welcoming attitude when interacting with colleagues, partners, and members of the public, possessing a comprehensive understanding of the City Centre and its offerings to both residents and visitors. The role necessitates proactive involvement in assisting local businesses. As a member of the Community Safety team, the Ambassador will work closely with Aberdeen Inspired (BID) concentrating on preventing Anti-Social Behaviour and enhancing the City Centre's environment to ensure it is friendly and welcoming.

You will work a rotating shift pattern which will include weekdays and weekends. Basic Disclosure Scotland required.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with people and communities with complex needs.
  • Ability to work autonomously, managing own workload, deadlines and appointments, exercise judgement and initiative, take personal responsibility and accountability for your own practice.
  • Ability to recognise signs of vulnerability and take appropriate steps, such as offering assistance, providing information, or signposting individuals to relevant support services.
  • Ability to assess and respond to risk within complex situations.
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively
  • Ability to produce and maintain accurate reports and documentation.
  • Ability to use a range of computer packages. Eg Microsoft Office
  • Ability to empathise with, and help, people who are recognised as vulnerable.
