Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
Job purpose/about the role
To assist the Residence Manager in the running of ACMS Boarding and to deputise in their absence, ensuring the service provides at all times a high quality service to the pupils of ACMS. ACMS boarding is registered with the Care Inspectorate as a mainstream school care accommodation service.
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
- SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 9 or approved equivalent i.e. SVQ/NVQ Health and Social Care (Level 4), SVQ 4 Health and Social Care at SCQF Level 9 to be able to register as a Supervisor with the SSSC.
- SSSC/GTC/NMC Registration or willing to become a member
- Protection of vulnerable Groups (PVG) membership
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
- Experience of working with young people and their families
- Experience of staff supervision and people management
- Organisational skills
- Leadership skills
- Ability to work well in a team
- The ability to produce high quality written records and reports
- The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with young people, their families and other stakeholders
- Good IT skills including the use of Microsoft packages
- The ability to make decisions and take responsibility for own practice, seeking advice and support as necessary and also support the team with their practice
- Have a good sense of humor and able to use this appropriately
