Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

job purpose/about the role

We are seeking 2x LAC (Looked After Children) Family Learning Development Workers for an exciting pilot working within multidisciplinary teams based at Northfield and Lochside Academies. One role is for an immediate start, the other will begin in January 2024, both positions will be funded until June 2025. The focus of the pilot will see the teams working with children, young people and their families to support and empower them to tell their stories and ensure that their voices strongly guide the development and evaluation of the operating models. The two teams will progress independently of each other but with regular opportunities to share and learn from one another. All members of the team will be equal partners in this multidisciplinary model and though based at the academies all will offer direct support to children and families at locations that best meet the needs of the child or family. The provision will be year-round and not impacted by school holiday periods.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

Degree in Community Learning and Development or equivalent i.e. Social Work/Early
Years)
Membership of Community Learning and Development Standards Council, or
commitment to join within first 3 months of appointment.
PVG Membership for Regulated Work with vulnerable children or willingness to obtain
prior to a formal offer of employment being made

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

Facilitating personal and social development and active citizenship through provision of learning programmes and activities.
Very strong communication skills
Developing and maintaining very positive relationships with customers and partners
An understanding of the challenges and barriers some family learners face
Providing clear, honest advice and guidance for families
Providing written reports to a high standard
Presentations skills and delivery of outreach to range of partners/learners
Time management and ability to prioritise tasks
Use of new technologies in service delivery and development
Using self-evaluation to drive improvement
