Job Description
The Learning & Development Coordinator role is essential for the Children’s Social Work Service and its wider partners across the city. This post holder will develop, deliver and measure the impact of a wide range of relevant training and employee development programmes as detailed within our iterative workforce development plan.
Alongside the Lead Officers for Corporate Parenting and Child Protection, the post holder will lead on the co-ordination, delivery and quality assurance of the Children’s Services Workforce Development programme and will contribute to the multi-agency Children’s Services Learning & Development Programme.
Requirements
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
- Educated to degree level or ability to evidence equivalent transferable skills
- SSSC Registered
- Basic Disclosure Scotland
The post holder will be expected to:
- Work in accordance with adult, child and public protection principles and procedures
- Travel as required in relation to the needs of the service
- Work at alternative locations as required
The post holder is expected to demonstrate:
- The ability to identify training needs in relation to policy and legislative requirements and developments
- The ability to work autonomously and in partnership with others, to develop and deliver training programmes
- The ability to assist in the development of systems for organising (and statistically recording) training activity
- The ability to adopt a creative approach and exercise initiative to the design and delivery of learning and development opportunities
- The ability to ensure the promotion and compliance with statutory, policy and procedural requirements.
- The ability to promote equalities, human rights, health and safety and service user involvement
- The capability to make sure that good practice and continuous professional development of self is maintained in line with policy and procedures, agreed standards and legislation and in line with statutory obligations
- The ability to challenge practice and to report concerns / good practice to line manager
The post holder needs to be able to demonstrate an understanding or experience of:
- Current training and development issues, including good practice
- Work related to child welfare and protection
- Multi agency working, especially in relation to the understanding of support and protection of children
- Relevant legislation and national guidelines on child protection matters
- The theory, principles and processes involved in the delivery of social work and social care
- Anti-discriminatory practice
- ITC systems and office procedures including administration and using computer packages including Microsoft office
