The Modern Apprenticeship Programme is targeted at building our workforce of the future.  Funding for training is available for applicants aged 16-19 and 20-24 (depending on the framework) and for disabled and care-experienced applicants between the age of 16-29. Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

job purpose/about the role

The postholder will support and assist with a variety of tasks and projects in the Payroll team that will widen their knowledge and experience in this service area, alongside completing a Modern Apprenticeship framework.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • A relevant qualification in numeracy, such as National 5 / Higher Grade Maths or Applications of Maths; or equivalent relevant experience

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to grasp new topics quickly on a self-taught basis
  • Effective communication skills both written and spoken
  • Ability to form effective working relationships with people at different levels
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to produce written information in a well presented and structured way
  • Ability to assimilate information quickly
  • Ability to produce accurate work with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills
  • Digital skills, including across a range of Microsoft packages
