Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
Job purpose/about the role
The postholder will be responsible for delivering a statutory social work service to individuals in the Justice Social Work System. Working as a member of the Unpaid Work Team and in line with National Outcomes and Standards, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient management of Community Payback Orders with an unpaid work requirement.
2 x full-time & 1 x .6 FTE part-time post The opportunity has arisen for interested workers to join our busy but dedicated Justice Social Work Unpaid Work Team as Order Supervisors This role involves working with justice social work clients currently on court orders, carrying out assessments to place these individuals within suitable projects to complete unpaid work in the community. In addition to daily monitoring and recording of their attendance, attending reviews with their social workers and advising the court of any lack of compliance issues which may arise. Most of our clients require additional support and motivation to engage with unpaid work due to their complex lifestyles. This can involve regular telephone contact, face to face meetings as well as home visits. Therefore we are looking for staff who are understanding of our clients circumstances and who can signpost them to appropriate support services if required. The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
- Higher level qualifications (or equivalent)
- PVG
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
- Communicating effectively, including presenting clear and concise information
- Producing high-quality written reports and records
- Collating diverse and complex information
- Undertaking risk assessments and managing risk in the workplace
- Ability to advocate and liaise with other agencies and professionals
- Working as part of a team
- Office procedures and administration
- Use of IT systems and skills in data input
- Managing conflicting demands
