Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
job purpose/about the role
To contribute to the management of the school/service and the delivery of quality education through the appropriate involvement of pupils, staff, parents, other agencies and the community. This will be done in accordance with the Authority’s strategic plan, the school/service improvement plan, national priorities, local improvement objectives, in accordance with current legislation and within national and local agreements.
PT Raising Attainment role description • Undertake a maximum of 22.5 hours teaching commitment • Working with DHT Raising Attainment and Achievement, develop and maintain whole school strategy for tracking pupil progress • Working with DHT Raising Attainment and Achievement, provide support and challenge for colleagues across the Pupil Support team, supporting pupils who are at risk of not securing a sustained positive destination • Lead targeted support to raise attainment for pupils identified within the PEF/FSM/care experienced umbrella • Develop and maintain whole school strategy for whole school tracking of pupil progress • Work with PTs of Literacy and Numeracy to ensure all pupils within the PEF/FSM/care experienced umbrella leave school with a qualification in literacy and numeracy • Lead targeted work to support pupils who are identified as under achieving • Develop and maintain whole school strategy for our very able pupils (VAP) • Develop and maintain whole school strategy for whole school tracking of pupil progress • Work with ASG colleagues to support and maintain progression through transition
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
Appropriate teaching qualification
Full GTC (Scotland) registration in the appropriate subject/sector, or be eligible for
such registration
PVG scheme membership – Working with Children
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
- Ability to provide strategic direction and guidance to colleagues
- Ability to lead curriculum development and quality assurance
- Ability to teach the full curriculum in the relevant subject (or, in a multi departmental faculty, at least one subject area) or sector, and to develop
the curriculum - Ability to prioritise the work in the assigned areas of responsibility
- Organisational skills
- Ability to manage and organise classes through planning and preparing for
teaching and learning - Ability to assess, record and report on the work of pupils’ progress to inform
a range of teaching and learning approaches - Ability to prepare pupils for examinations and qualifications
- Ability to contribute towards good order and the wider needs of the school
- Ability to contribute to the school and council planning and improvement
processes - Ability to maintain and develop knowledge and skills and contribute to the
professional development of colleagues including probationary and student
teachers
