Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently a-ccp-charstyle="ui-provider" data-ccp-charstyle-defn="{">£31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

job purpose/about the role

The Quality Improvement Manager will:

  • Lead a team of Quality Improvement Officers and Education Support Officers to provide strategic leadership, support and challenge to schools and establishments and implement effective school improvement strategies to improve educational outcomes for children and young people.
  • Ensure effective partnership working within schools and with partner organisations (both locally and nationally)

To lead and coordinate system-wide school improvement across Aberdeen’s secondary sector, strengthening leadership capacity, ensuring high-quality self-evaluation, enhancing assessment and tracking practices, and providing targeted support to schools to secure improved outcomes and inspection readiness. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Network Development • Establish and lead Local Leadership Networks across priority QIs. • Deliver professional learning for DHTs and senior leaders aligned with national standards. • Align ACC networks with national networks to support the sharing and adoption of highly effective practice. Quality Improvement & Self-Evaluation • Build leader capacity in self-evaluation using data, stakeholder voice and direct observation. • Support the creation of high-quality SQUIPs with measurable milestones. • Develop and deliver training, guidance and resources linked to the Quality Improvement Framework (QIF). Targeted School Support • Provide structured, tailored support to identified secondary schools to strengthen practice and support HMIE readiness. • Coordinate improvement planning, timelines and personnel to ensure consistency and impact. Assessment & Tracking • Improve consistency and accuracy in assessment approaches across schools. • Support the development and use of Faculty Trackers within the inspection cycle. Policy & Resource Development • Produce policy exemplification (Curriculum, Assessment, Wellbeing) for use across secondary schools. • Develop and manage a School Improvement resource hub to support leaders and share best practices.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level
  • Relevant professional teaching qualification
  • Ability to provide evidence of GTCS registration or eligibility
  • PVG Membership for Regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
