Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
job purpose/about the role
To support the Group Manager and Team Leader in coordinating and mentoring the team to provide care and assistance aimed at achieving outcomes for those we support.
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
• SCQF or equivalent level 7 (Social Services and Healthcare or Children and Young People) with mandatory CPL requirements
• Any practice award in the supervisor or manager category
• HNC Social Services (GK89 15/GT6N 47)
• Any previous practice qualification which is no longer available from this list: Help with Register parts, fees and qualifications - Scottish Social Services Council (sssc.uk.com)
• Commitment to undertake and achieve SVQ in related Social Care discipline with a willingness to commit to your own professional development within allocated timescale if required.
• Qualifications or training in specialist care e.g., working with mental health issues, learning disability, autism, behavioural support etc.
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
· Well-developed communication skills particularly in terms of listening and verbal communication
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing ensuring accurate records are recorded in a timely manner.
· Ability to work on your own initiative with minimal support, seeking guidance where relevant.
· Ability to lead others and work collaboratively as part of a team (often remotely) with a proactive approach.
· Willingness and ability to deliver the physical demands of the role i.e., personal care, lifting and caring, etc and covering shifts as req.
· Willingness and confidence to use and promote technology to enable greater efficiency and effectiveness throughout a team.
· Ability to apply numeracy skills to your role to ensure accurate records are kept.
· Ability to plan and manage time effectively to empower and lead others.
· Ability to use a mentoring/coaching approach to leadership.
